Universal 2Mbps UK Broadband delayed until 2015

During this time of fiscal austerity it can hardly come as a surprise; we just don't have the cash to fulfil the UK Government's plans to roll-out broadband access to all British homes at speeds of at least 2Mbps per by 2012.

Jeremy Hunt, the culture secretary, said last Thursday that the target would now be met by 2015 and that on entering government he discovered insufficient resources to meet the target by 2012.

BeyonDSL is delivering satellite broadband speeds of up to 4Mbps to all British homes now and our comparatively low equipment and installation costs make it affordable to all. Co-founder of lastminute.com Martha Lane Fox and now the UK Government's 'Digital Champion' said:

“If everyone was online, total savings would be in excess of £22 billion a year with households saving an average of £560 per year. We also know that 3.6 million low-income households are missing out on savings of £1 billion a year by not being able to pay bills online”.

So yes there is a cost to getting online but as she notes there are many ways it can then save you money:

  • Cheaper Shopping Online
  • Comparison Websites (like uswitch)
  • Less time waiting - run your business faster

Satellite broadband is available now. Why wait?
