Self Installation Guideposted by Ashley Snowdon on 16 June 2010We recommend you contact a professional installer. However, if you are technically-minded you can do it yourself by following the instructions provided. Installation VideoThere are two equipment kit types: 1070 (with 79cm dish) and 1072 (with 75cm dish). For both 1070 and 1072, please watch this video. For 1072, please watch this video as well. If you're not sure which kit you have, you can see the different dish types in the video. Where to Point Your Dish: Az, El and SkewYou need to point your dish/iLNB in the correct direction given by the Azimuth (left/right), Elevation (up/down) and Skew (rotate) for your location. See the guide to Az, El and Skew for details. General figures are given in the Antenna Pointing Information booklet which comes with your equipment kit. You can download another copy from our Downloads page. Please visit DishPointer to find precise figures for your exact location. Enter your PostCode and then select: 23.5E ASTRA 3A, ASTRA 3B. Drag and drop the green line to your site. Write down the Elevation, Azimuth (magn) and LNB Skew. the compass) reading. The dish needs to point in this direction.
Point & PlayThe Point & Play Setup leaflet (provided with your kit) gives a simple step-by-step guide to install the ASTRA2Connect terminal (consisting of the antenna and the satmodem). When installing the antenna, it is important that you follow the entire guide step-by-step including the fine pointing procedure. When pointing the antenna, you may need to repeat the steps from the section 'Rough pointing: horizontal (azimuth)' (page 36) onwards to obtain optimal signal reception and transmission. To save time, when fixing the F-Connector to the TX Cable, make sure the centre conductor is sufficiently long. Failure to do this could result in "Network failure" error when trying to launch the service. Signal CheckYou should check the three important measurements of your signal: EsNo (received signal), CNo (transmitted signal) and Xpol (iLNB rotation or "skew"). The procedure is covered on the Signal Check Overview page. Troubleshooting GuideThe following troubleshooting guide highlights common installation issues that might arise. Also available is a Quick Test guide. |
