New Transponder Parameters for ASTRA 3Bposted by Ashley Snowdon on 30 June 2010The successful launch of ASTRA3B to join the fleet at the ASTRA 3 position at 23.5°E means a new satellite for ASTRA2Connect. It will allow more expansion and higher power as well as providing more redundancy and enhanced reliability. The service is moving from ASTRA 1E to new transponders on ASTRA 3B. Both ASTRA 1E and ASTRA 3B are at ASTRA's 23.5°E position, so there is no need to re-point the dish. Most satmodems in the field will download the new parameters automatically so the update should be transparent to most users. New satmodems may require a manual selection of alternate pointing carrier or manual parameter edit. During pointing or normal use, if the satmodem does not pick up the new parameters automatically, please follow the procedure in the Point & Play manual on page 30 to select the alternate pointing carrier or set the new parameters manually as follows. You can print a pdf of these instructions here. If you are doing pointing for the first time or re-pointing, please make sure that the new parameters are there before proceeding. Old Values for ASTRA 1E
(values in red need to be changed)
New Values for ASTRA 3B (values in green are the new correct values)
To change parameters manually, please access the satmodem webinterface as normal (type 192.168.1.1 in the browser address bar) select Satellite Interface on the sat modem menu, click the Edit button and ensure all values are as shown here (this procedure is also covered in the Terminal User Manual on page 31): Click Save and then Reboot When the satmodem has rebooted, verify that the parameters are as shown here: Congratulations, you have successfully updated the parameters! You can continue with pointing if you need to as described in the installation instructions. If you require further assistance, please visit the support section in "My Account".
