Setup Parameters for 28.2° E Satellite

posted by InfoDesk BeyonDSL on 26 August 2011

For accounts on ASTRA 2 at 28.2°E, you need to set these parameters on the NTC/2252 SatModem. The procedure is in the manual so please see Section 3.7.2.4 Edit The Satellite Interface Configuration. This info is downloadable as a pdf by clicking here. If you are going to re-configure your own satmodem,  please print out a copy first so you have it for reference.

If you are not sure whether you should be installing on 28.2 or 23.5, please check the service footprints here and the compatibility guide here.

When at the satmodem webinterface (192.168.1.1) choose Satellite Interface from the menu on the left.

  1. Click Edit button
  2. Change parameters as above
  3. Click Save button
  4. Reboot satmodem

Now you can follow the Point & Play procedure to point the dish at 28.2°E.

The iLNB skew for 28.2°E is different to the skew for 23.5°E so here is how to find it:

  • Take the figure for your location given in the Point & Play Pointing Information booklet and add 90 - or
  • Visit www.dishpointer.com,  enter your location, choose ASTRA 28.2, take skew figure, drop the minus sign and add 90. EG if Dishpointer says -12, set your skew on the iLNB scale at 102.

When the satmodem is correctly aligned on 28.2°E, it will automatically download the correct software update, update itself and reboot. Then you should be online on the new position.
